SUMMER PICNIC BIRTHDAY - WSC44

Thanks to all of you who tried to help with my Blogger and Feedblitz problems! They are still not resolved ... I'm assuming for a couple of more days that it's their problem, not mine. What's a girl to do? Stamp, of course!

This card is my attempt at Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge #44. I just got this stamp set, Big Birthday Candle, the other day and was anxious to use it! I also challenged myself to use Summer Picnic DP with a stamp set other than Tart & Tangy.

To me, the upper right hand corner of my card seems a little empty but every time I went to add something to it, it cluttered the card up. My candles were meant to be staggered and random (which bugged my DH). I just don't know if this card cuts the mustard or not ???

RECIPE
Stamps: Big Birthday Candle
Paper: Summer Picnic DP, Whisper White and Basic Black DP
Ink: Jet Black Staz-On, Pumpkin Pie Classic
Embellishments: Old Olive Poly-Twill Ribbon, Black Brads
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals
Techniques: Color Blocking, Paper Piecing

Don't forget about the What You've Got (WYG) Challenge making a long card using Bali Breeze DP! See all the details HERE! Hope you'll play along!

I love this card. It has just the right amount of embellishments. I have this set, and headed for the work table to make one like it. Thank you for the great card idea.

I think it's great as is...no further embellishments needed. I like the staggered candles...it makes it more whimsical and happy that way...fun!

Cut the mustard?! It does a lot more than that, it's fabulous!! I love the candles on the patterned paper, way cute! And you need the blank space, a place for the eyes to rest, so it's perfect!!

Nancy - I looked at your card before I read your post, & I actually said out loud to myself "I LOVE this card!" Then I read how unsure you were about it. Well, be unsure no more! It's fabulous!

Wowza girl! This card is fabulous! I love the color! I have been deciding if I want to get this set or not and I think you just convinced me! I love what you did with it. My version of this sketch doesn't have anything in that corner either and I was trying to decide what to do about it and I finally decided it's ok to have a blank corner! I really like how yours turned out. It looks perfect! I love how you did the sentiment on different colors. I just can't stop gushing over this card! :D Anyway, I also wanted to let you know that I have been having problems with blogger this weekend too and they haven't written me back so I am assuming we are not the only ones who are complaining! :D Hopefully they get it figured out SOON! Thanks again for sharing this card! Love it girl!

Nancy - love what you did with this card. I too like the uncluttered look. The addition of the black card stock is really striking. Love the bow around the candles.

I think this card is great just as it is!! Hmm this is interesting - it's happened many times now, I go to a blog and think "WOW I love this card!" and then read the post and find the person who created it isn't sure they like it. What does it say about my taste?? LOL!
