FILL THE SEASON WITH SMILES

Karen Giron has created another challenging sketch this week with Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #46! Notice how I can't seem to play by the rules and flipped mine? I also couldn't bear placing my circle to the left of the large panel either ... just had to center it! When I first started playing along with sketches years ago, I felt like I had to take the sketch so literally, but eventually learned that a sketch is something to be inspired by and to use as a guide or starting point.

CHRISTMAS JINGLE SLEIGH BELLS

My favorite time of the week! ... Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #38! I followed Sandi MacIver's instructions for making the Christmas trees with the Tag Punch, Small Tag Punch, and Horizontal Slot Punch. Super easy and adorable too!

I love the new Sleigh Bells Cotton Ribbon from the new Holiday Mini Catalog! It coordinates so well with the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit which is where all the designer paper and textured cardstock for this card came from. The Chocolate Chip "Season's Greetings" sentiment is from Chit Chat Rub-Ons, and the Real Red button is from Playground Designer Buttons. I used a sliver of Old Olive Cardstock to "thread" the ribbon.

CHRISTMAS JINGLE DASHER

Here's another little card I put together over my three-day weekend. I used Cindy Haffner's Crazy 4 Challenges Sketch #1 and my new Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' Kit.

* The scallop circle Dasher image and the sentiment are self-adhesive die cuts from the Christmas Jingle SSK, and the designer paper and textured cardstock are also from the kit.

* The beautiful Old Olive 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon can be found in the Mistletoe Ribbon Originals in the new '09 Holiday Mini Catalog.

* The overall card measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4". The "tent" portion of the card measures 4 1/4" x 6", and is scored at 3".

* It's difficult to see in the photograph, but there are dots of metallic glitter glue (made for papercrafting) added to antlers of the Dasher image.

SFYTT CHRISTMAS

I'm still here! ... just haven't had time to stamp or blog this week. I ended up having a cortisone shot for my heel spur so I am walking better ... let' hope this is the fix I've been needing! It's Homecoming week (Allie's Senior Year!) - parade and game yesterday with the dance tonight .... you name it, it's happening here!

I did, however, find time to make a couple of samples for Jen del Muro's Sketch For You To Try Challenge. I have been Jen's Guest Designer for the SFYTT Challenge this month, and this is my last week in the honorable position. What an enjoyable experience it has been!

The circle snowflakes on the tree are punched from the Real Red snowflake dp in the I Wish SSK with the 1/2" Circle Punch. TWO-WAY OPEN CARDS

I created these two-way open cards for SCS Featured Stamper #77, Julia, known as artystamper on SCS. HERE is Julia's card I chose to case. I had never made these two-way open cards before ... boy, are they FUN and EASY to make! The Stampin' Up! designer papers make the possibilities endless! I used Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit and Summer Picnic DP for my samples.

Click HERE for a tutorial on how to make these. The tutorial does not include the belly band which measures 11" x 1", and is scored at 3 3/8" and 8", overlapped and adhered in the back. Finished size is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2".

Here I go again ... using up more of my Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit. I can't believe how many cards I've made from this adorable kit! (You can see them HERE). I'll be so sad to see this kit retire when the new catalog is introduced in August. How do I know it's going to be retiring? ... It has an In Color (Wild Wasabi) in it.

I used Jennifer Meyer's sketch on Our Creative Corner for this card. No stamps were used ... all images are self-adhesive die cuts from the kit.

EASY PEASY!

I know what you're thinking ... there she goes again using that Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit to make another EASY card! My response .... SURE AM !!! As I've said before, the color combination of Pretty In Pink, Regal Rose, and Wild Wasabi has GOT to be one of my all-time favorites! Seems like every time I have a break from stamping for a few days, I tend to go for this SSK to get me back in the groove of designing. The only stamping on this card is the sentiment from Circle of Friendship, "Sending You Birthday Wishes". The main image flower and the layering on the sentiment piece are self-adhesive die cuts from the Crew Kids Girl SSK.

To create this card, I used Jessica Rone's sketch for Great Swaps Girls (GSGC02) and Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simply Challenge #33 (SSNOTIME33) which was to create a simple card using pink and green and a flower.

SCS FEATURED STAMPER CHALLENGE FS63 SPARKLEGIRL

Another one of my favorite stamping artists is Featured Stamper on SCS today (FS63)! ... Silke Ledlow, known as Sparklegirl on SCS! Silke's work is a constant inspiration to me and it is so fun to be able to case her work "legally" ! I'm really hoping to get one more case in today, but I really need to start cutting cardstock for my upcoming classes.

When playing along with the Featured Stamper Challenge, you copy the Featured Stamper's card but change at least two things. In this case, I changed the colors and dp, the main flower image, and the sentiment is from a different stamp set.

My designer paper and textured cardstock are from the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit. The large Wild Wasabi polka-dot flower and the Pretty In Pink/Regal Rose piece on the metal edge tag are both self-adhesive die cuts from this SSK too. RECIPE

SCS WAYS TO USE IT CHALLENGE 153 ROUND TAB PUNCH PURSES

You're not going to believe this, but I actually put my Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit away in a cabinet last night. This morning, my wheels started turning for today's SCS challenge, and what do I do? ... I pull out my Crew Kids Girl SSK AGAIN! I am hooked on this color combo of Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi and Basic Gray! I have loved every single Simply Scrappin' Kit that I've purchased from Stampin' Up! Next card I post, I'll TRY to use something different ... I promise!

Today's Ways To Use It Challenge 153 on SCS was the use fashion as your inspiration. I have always thought that the purses others have made with the Round Tab Punch were so cute, and today's challenge was a perfect opportunity for me to try! My card was inspired by JenMarie's card HERE, and Londonblue's card HERE.

The body of the purse is created by punching with the Round Tab Punch and cutting in half, then the flap for the purse is punched using the 3/4" Square Punch, then cut in half. The "handles" for the purses are made with Silver Elastic Cord, and the pink rhinestone "snaps" on the purse flaps are self-adhesive rhinestones from Michael's craft store. (You could use a brad or eyelet too!)

The polka dot Basic Gray frame piece is a self-adhesive die cut from the simply scrappin' kit. Card measures 6 1/2" x 6 1/2", and scored at 3 1/4" ... fits Small Open-End Envelopes.

SCS SKETCH CHALLENGE 162, ENJOY EVERY MOMENT

This card was created for last week's SCS Sketch Challenge 162, and as you can see, I can't stay away from the Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit! The colors, designer papers, and self-adhesive die cuts are just awesome! Wish I could buy the designer paper in this kit by the ream! I felt the same way about the striped designer paper in the Winter Bright SSK from the last catalog!

The main image panel (layer #4 in the sketch), "enjoy every moment", is a case from Nancy Morgan's card HERE and HERE. Nancy is such an enabler ... her card is the reason I bought the stamp set, Enjoy Every Moment! I love how the "e" fit in the center of the large flower, and the dotted circle and small flower fit in the center of the "o" ... brilliant design! I couldn't have done this without my Stamp-a-ma-jig, using it five times for the main image! .... 1) large Wild Wasabi flower, 2) Going Gray "enjoy", 3) Pretty In Pink dotted circle inside the "o", 4) small Wild Wasabi flower inside the "o", and 5) "every moment". The dots around the large Wild Wasabi flower are paper pierced with the paper piercing tool/mat/template.

Layer #1 is Pretty In Pink CS layered on Wild Wasabi CS. The Daisy Dash Jumbo Wheel was inked in Versamark vertically on the Pretty In Pink CS.

The horizontal layer #2 is a self-adhesive die cut from the Crew Kids Girl SSK, mounted on dp from the same kit, then mounted again on Going Gray textured cardstock from the same kit.

I LOVE Stampin' Up!'s Simply Scrappin' Kits! Not only are they great for scrapbooking, they're wonderful for cardmaking too! This card was made using Textured Cardstock, Designer Paper, and Self-Adhesive Die Cuts from the new Crew Kids Girl Simply Scrappin' Kit! I love the fresh color combination of Regal Rose, Wild Wasabi, Basic Gray, and Whisper White! The main image was created by layering Self-Adhesive Die Cuts from the kit. The only stamping on this card was the "congrats" sentiment from Fundamental Phrases. This layout was inspired by THIS RAK (the Merry & Bright card at the bottom of the post) I received from my friend, Karen Laub, nikesmom on SCS.

Although I LOVE to stamp, I really like these cards that use the Simply Scrappin' Kits. The stickers can be used as a substitute for stamps and make for super easy and quick cards!

I stayed up WAY too late last night altering two more lunchbox tins (see THIS post for previous altered tins). I'm only sharing one of them with you today because the other I'm saving for 10,000 Hits BLOG CANDY! Yep, I'm nearing 10,000 hits on my blog and will be giving away one of these Card Organizers altered with CUTIE PIE DP! Oh, it's so-o-o CUTE! So keep clicking away!

This lunchbox tin is altered using CREATIVE LICENSE SIMPLY SCRAPPIN' KIT (Level One Hostess).

The dividers are labeled "Birthday", "Thank You", "Holidays", "Get Well/Sympathy", "Congrats", "Friendship", and "Misc".

Stamps: None
Paper: Creative License Simply Scrappin' Kit (Level One Hostess), Pumpkin Pie and Soft Sky CS.
Ink: None
Embellishments: Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, and Blue Bayou Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Silver Brads.
Tools: 1 1/4" Circle Punch (for cut-out around latch), Word Window Punch (for cut-out around handle), Round Tab Punch (for dividers).
Supplies: Lots and lots and lots of Sticky Strip, Stampin' Dimensionals or Foam Tape.
Notes: The word "CARDS" are letter stickers from Creative Memories. The DP for the lid is TWO pieces to fit around the handle.

HAPPY ME ALTERED LUNCHBOX TINS

Last Spring, my friend Paula found 20 of these tins at a garage sale for me. Kudos to Paula!!! (She's always lookin' out for me!). I would provide the measurements for altering, but they measure a little differently than the Lunchbox Tins sold at scrapbook/stamping stores. If I recall correctly, they sell at the stores for approx. $6 - $8. Paula got these for fifty cents each! Woohoo!

I have been GRADUALLY altering them as Card Organizers. Very time-consuming project, but well worth it! I have several more of these Card Organizers to make.... here's the first two with hopefully more to come within the week!

The two altered tins I made today use the HAPPY ME SIMPLY SCRAPPIN' BUNDLE (Level 3 Hostess). Gosh I LOVE this bundle!!!! So colorful, versatile, and FUN! (See recipe below). The two tins are very similar with slight differences.

Below are the dividers for each tin. The words, "Birthday", "Thank You", "Holidays", "Get Well / Sympathy", "Friendship", "Congrats", and "Misc" were printed from the computer on Soft Sky CS and punched out with the Round Tab Punch...embellished with White Brads.
