MOM'S CHRISTMAS DAY BIRTHDAY

My mom's birthday is Christmas Day, and this is the card I made for her by case-ing myself from THIS CARD. I used last year's retired Dashing DP, and the stamp set Party Hearty. The "Dec. 25" is from last year's hostess set, Perfect Presentation. Like I've said before, I love the way the "CELEBRATE YOU" image from Party Hearty fits perfectly in the Scallop Circle Punch. RECIPE
Stamps: Party Hearty, "Dec. 25" from Perfect Presentation (retired Hostess)
Paper: Dashing DP (retired), Real Red, Old Olive and Very Vanilla CS
Ink: Real Red and Old Olive
Embellishments: Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon, Antique Brass Build-A-Brad
Tools: Scallop Circle Punch, Scallop Edge Punch, 1/2", 3/4", and 1" Circle Punches, CM Custom Cutting System for 2" Circle (non-SU)
Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals

If you are a regular reader, you know that I've been recovering from surgery on my foot since Thanksgiving. As a result, I still have pumpkins, pilgrims, and turkeys as the holiday decor in my home instead of snowmen, Christmas trees, and stockings. I hadn't done any shopping either ... until today. I was able to borrow a wheelchair and my dear friend Karen Laub took me shopping. Wheelchairs take some getting used to, and we had many many giggles over our awkwardness! We'll be talking about this day for years to come, I'm sure!

Karen also transported me to a doctor's appointment for my yearly exam. It was so hot in the doctor's office, I about died! My doctor is standing there talking to me in a turtle neck and wool blazer claiming to be quite comfortable while I'm sitting there in a lightweight examination gown with sweat dripping from my head! Needless to say, she's sending me for blood work to check my hormone levels! (If you're a 40-something female, you can probably relate to this story!)

Thanks for stopping by today!

Nancy,
Your mother's birthday card is wonderful! I love the combination of the birthday set, Build-a-Brad and the Dashing designer paper!
I'm so glad that you were able to get out and get some Christmas shopping done!
Sounds like you had a whole bunch of fun at the doctors, oh boy!

Beautiful card Nancy!! Your mom and my Dad share the same birthday!! However, my Dad would have complained about the red & green card...the rule at our house has always been NO Christmas-related things on Christmas day...we've always celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve, then Christmas Day is dad's birthday. And man, you better watch out if you wrapped his birthday gift in Christmas paper or gave him a combination "Merry Christmas AND Happy Birthday" gift!!! Dean's due date was actually Dec 25 and I was so relieved that he decided to arrive a few weeks early on Dec 6!!! :-)

Great card!!!

P.S. totally understand the "sweating".. I'm not there yet but plenty of women around me are. I'll go to our kitchen area & catch them w/ the freezer door open w/ their head inside! LOL

Hi Nancy... I just LOVE your Mother's b-day card! I need to try the scallop punch with the Party Hearty set... you are AWESOME!! I bet there were lots of giggles on your shopping spree, wheelchair style!! Fun... :) This is what makes great memories... maybe a Scrapbook page will be in order? He! Anyway, I know the yearly exam is no fun, but at least it OVER, for this year! We have another Minnesota winter storm coming over the weekend… It’s looking like Christmas. Chat again soon… smiles! :)

Oh my gosh - a birthday on Christmas? Really cute card. I like how you used Christmas colors but were able to keep it a birthday card.

This is so pretty! I love the Dashing paper, your layout and design elements. This is a heck of a time to be unable to get around. Gosh, it's hard enough when you're able-bodied. Take care, and Merry Christmas!

WONDERFUL card! I love the layers and the PP! I never got the hormone hot flash stuff (or whatever it is) -- and I'm 46. And my mom never did. I'm thankful for that...cause I've had enough OTHER female "stuff" problems to make up for it!
