My pegboard organization looks a little different since the last photos. That's one thing about any craft, especially papercrafting ... organizaiton is a huge part of it, especially when new products are purchased. This first photo is an overview of my main workspace for papercrafting and my pegboard.
The biggest change I've made to my pegboard is adding an inexpensive curtain rod ($.97 at Walmart) to house my large Stampin' Up! punches. My DH simply drilled it through the pegboard and studs behind it. Boy, has this been handy! I love having my punches which I use ALL THE TIME in sight and within reach! I probably should have purchased a more expensive rod for the sturdiness, but to solve that problem I added pegboard brackets for support. I still keep my smaller punches in a drawer on the left of the above photo.
Pretty much all of my tools hang from standard pegboard hardware found at any local hardware store. The baskets in the above photo two photos were garage sale finds ... I need to get more of them! They are great for holding things that won't hang from a hook. The little shelf on the bottom was an IKEA find from a couple of years ago. It is held up by pegboard brakets -- also great for housing items that can't hang from a hook.I also store my ribbon, eyelets, brads, and buttons on my pegboard. I found these pegboard racks online HERE at www.mediashelving.com. They are called 24" Sticker On A Roll Shelf. The top rack holds all my grosgrain ribbons, and the second rack holds cord and organdy ribbons. The third rack holds misc. hardware and buttons (those are mini staplers with colored staples hanging from it). The bottom rack holds eyelets and brads. A closer look at the media shelving racks.
So that I don't have stray ribbon hanging from the racks, I carefully pin the end of my ribbon spools. I say "carefully" because I don't like the holes in the ribbon that the pins can create. If you STAB the pin through several layers of ribbon, you'll get what I think are some pretty large holes. I simply stick the pin through the end of the last portion of ribbon and through a couple of more layers at an angle. The holes are minimal. (I hope that makes sense???)I consider myself to be very familiar and knowledgeable about Stampin' Up!'s products, but for the life of me, I can never remember what colors eyelets, brads and buttons come in! That's where my Dymo labeler comes in handy once again! I keep my Stampin' Up! brads, buttons and eyelets in their original containers and label the outside of each compartment with the color it holds. Since I'm familiar with color families, once I see one color, I usually instantly know what other colors are in the same container.
The next photo shows other frequently used tools that hang from standard pegboard hooks like my crimper, brayer, and Stampin' Around Handles (one is missing ... must have been using it on a project at the time this photo was taken). I also hang my Ribbon Originals from a pegboard hook by punching a 1/4" circle punch in the top of the cardboard & cellophane.

My Heat Tool hangs from the Media Shelving Racks and stays plugged into an outlet at all times.
That's my ever-changing pegboard system in a nutshell! Thanks for looking!

I have to say that I love my new island, but I am having huge problems fiding a solution for my punches. You make me want a wall, sniff. I am adding a link on my blog for my readers to come find you though, cause even if it won't work for me, I love the storage solutions!

I love this! I've been hemming & hawing over adding pegboard to my studio. I was afraid it would look too industrial. However, one glimpse of your room and I was SOLD! Guess my hubby will be busy cutting pegboard this weekend!

You have a very lovely craft room! The use of pegboard is a phenomenal idea, and so very practical. I was looking for a nice way to store and display my ribbons, etc. and stumbled upon your site. Your storage wall makes so much more sense to me, as opposed to a dedicated ribbon holder. I just found my weekend's project - Thank you!!
my husband hung peg board for me and I couldn't figure out what to do with it now I have all sorts of ideas on how to organize it! Thank you SOOO much for posting pictures.
OMG Nancy, I just got my new contact at Lowe's, and gave her a list from your instructions and bada bing, bada bing. I will have my kitchen countertop in less than 2 weeks along with the pegboards, etc. I need to find those basket type holders for my ribbons...then just got to get the plastic drawers for all my stamps sets!! This is just perfect and great timing for me too. Thanks for sharing. Sandy Seibert - sandy_seibert@verizon.net
