DEAR ANONYMOUS ....

Last week, I received a comment on my iPICKS post that I'd like to address...

anonymous said ..."I think it is really crappy that you take other peoples projects and post them to get your blog ratings up. Why don't you just post your OWN projects rather than trying to benefit from other people's hard work."

My response: I don't play the blog ratings game. I don't even know how to look at my ratings, or even interpret them! The only monetary profit I make as a result of my blog is an occasional Stampin' Up! order though my demonstrator website link, and those occasional orders help me make my minimum quarter sales that I often struggle to reach! I have a full-time job outside of the home that keeps me from working my SU business in a profitable manner, and am a hobby demonstrator.

I clearly state in my iPICKS that the projects are not my designs, provide links to the designers' websites, and even encourage readers to click on them. The benefits I receive from iPICKS? ... I get to see my favorite projects from the week in one spot, and I know there are other stampers out there who truly enjoy the weekly post. I am sincerely inspired by each project I post, and just simply want to share. In all the 142 iPICKS, I have never had an artist complain, and hope that if anyone did have a problem with me sharing their projects they would simply let me know - nicely. If you've followed my blog for any length of time, you would know that I do share my artwork. My job and other personal tragedies over the past couple of years have understandably taken away from much of my crafting time.

So, "Anonymous" .... there you have it. Thanks for making me feel crappy with your rude, unfair, and misinformed comment. Not!

On the other hand, thank you to all the talented cyber stamping friends who left kind comments of support for my iPICKS posts! I'll be back tomorrow night with iPICKS #143!

Ignore "Anonymous" negativity! Sharing ideas and creativity is what blogging is about. I appreciate the time you take to put together these posts. Thank you for introducing me to artists that I might have missed otherwise. FYI -- you can change your comment settings and not accept Anonymous comments or you can remove negative comments from your blog.

I am a lurker of your blog and don't usually comment, but I want to let you know that I appreciate the way you collect the best of the cards that you see out in the web. It is wonderful to see all of these beautiful designs without having to spend the time visit all of those blogs! You clearly attribute the work to the artist and if something peaks my interest I click over to that artist's blog to see more. The comment from that anonymous person tells us more about him or her and his or her motivations than about you and yours. Don't pay any attention to them!

Count me in as one who loves your weekly iPicks. I don't get on Splitcoast or Stamper's Connection much and I can always count on you to find some outstanding projects that I wouldn't want to miss.

You even had one of my projects in your showcase and I was so flattered!

I've found lots of blogs that I've enjoyed visiting through yours.

So thank you!

You go girl, That's pretty crappy in it self to post something like that. I go to several blogs....and if I don't like them for whatever reason...I leave and don't go back. I sure don't leave comments bad mouthing them about there blog like that. Keep doing what you're doing and forget the person that evidently has nothing better to do.

Hey, I wouldn't know about these wonderful blogs if it weren't for you. The only complaint I have is your weekly post is not more often. I have no imagination and if it were not for examples for me to case I would be not be stamping. Keep up the good work.

Please continue with IPicks. Love to look at them and even case a few to make as a new stamper. Thank you.

Don't let that person ruin your day. Some people have such a miserable life that they want others to feel like them. Look at all of your responses from your followers, they are all positive. Keep up the Ipicks, we love them.

"Anonymous" is singing a different tune now that she/he has found her opinion is not so popular.
Nancy, you have honestly changed my life and inspired me; helped me dare to do my own work instead of following someone else's to the letter (with their permission). I think you're FABULOUS!! PLEASE never stop doing what you do!!! Pam from Price, UT

Nancy, I am so sorry you had to listen to those nasty words written by someone whose head is certainly in the wrong place. I'm sure so many crafters enjoy looking at the posts you have chosen because you look at things with a critical eye and post things of beauty. We all benefit from that: the artists have more people linking to their blog (and hence more "followers"), and we have some ideas that we can create.
I personally thank you for what you have done and continue to do, and I hope that people such as the one who wrote those unpleasant words don't deter you from the wonderful job you've been doing.
And...just for your information, I rarely comment on people's blogs. I enjoy looking at the art, sometimes CASEing it, sometimes just figuring out how the artist did it. The person who wrote the unkind comment has prompted me to write this!

Please don't let one person make you feel bad. I LOVE your picks and look forward to them each week. I have never read anywhere on your posts where you take credit for any of the work that isn't your work. You are very kind to those that you share their work. Please keep it up because you find the best of the best. Sending you many cbyer hugs!!!!

I'm new to your blog, and one of the reasons I subscribed was your iPICKS. I loved the idea of being to see several artists' works in one place. I've clicked on several of the photos and have visited the person's blog that they came from. I'm so glad you didn't let the complainer's comments bring you down. As my dad used to say, "Some people would complain if you hung them with a new rope!"

Good for you Nancy! I LOVE your post! You save me time by finding some truly artistic, talented people and projects -- I don't have time to surf and look at them like I used to, so now, I know to look at your picks for the week and then go to the blogs to appreciate the work of these designers! I LOVE that you're not going to let this deter you. What nerve. If anything, I wish Anonymous had enough nerve to post their name! Keep doing what you're doing! We all appreciate it and you!!

Nancy, I really enjoy your weekly picks; I get the chance to visit blogs that I may not have had the opportunity to see if you didn't bring them to our attention. And you link us right up to them. There is no need to justify to ANYONE what you are doing. As you can see, there are many of us out here that feel the same way. Looking forward to #143. Keep on posting!!

Here, here! I love looking at your blog and all the inspiring projects you have posted over the years! I, too have a full time job and my business is a hobby. I started a blog, but don't even have the time to make and post projects. You are to be commended for your diligence and the time you are able to devote to your blog. I love your site and checked back religiously to hear the news of how your family was doing. Don't let one person destroy your joy in creating something to share with others. Please keep up the good work.

I LOVE iPicks, Nancy! I always get impatient and check during the day Sunday to see if you may have posted them early. I agree, it is an 'archive' for me of projects I'd like to try; ever try to remember where you saw something? :/
Besides, I would bet that having the honor of being chosen by you significantly boosts the 'ratings' on the creators' blogs!I know I very often will visit the blog of the designer, and have often also bookmarked them.
I spend HOURS cruising the net for ideas. I know the time it takes, and I sooo appreciate you taking the time to cruise and choose your iPicks.
Keep it up, Nancy!! We'd be lost without them!

I really like the fact that you do share the projects that you like in one place for us to see. It helps me see more that what I would normally view in my search throughout the crafts and cards on the internet and it also provides a place where I can see your creative side too. I can't believe there is such pettiness in our crafting society and think maybe jealousy is the culprit to the sentiment shared (you thought of the idea and made it successful!). I'm glad it is not the overwhelming feeling of the remaining crafters out here. I also believe that the "nastiness" shared should have been done privately. We all have our opinions and when we feel so strongly about something, it should be done one-on-one rather than publically. I grew up knowing if you couldn't say something nice about or to somebody, don't say anything at all. I wish there were more in cyber-land that understood this! I look forward to your continued iPicks selections and never even thought that you were doing this for other than your thoughtfulness to make these ideas available to a broader audience. Thank you.

Hi, Nancy, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate all your hard work each week by posting your iPICKS! I subscribe to the posts on iPICKS so that they automatically come to my email.... and it's one of my weekly highlights to see all the beautiful cards and projects that you post. You do beautiful work yourself, and in no way even NEED to 'try to benefit' from other people's work! haha! what a joke that was from 'anonymous'! You are saving the rest of us many hours researching projects and card ideas, and it is a benefit to those people whose projects are posted! You have done everything right... you've posted the links to each project or card and you've suggested to us that we go to those links for all the details. I'd say that is a huge HELP to those creators... in an advertising way! ;-) Please know that this nasty person, 'Anonymous' is a social misfit, a coward, a rude, a hateful, and an extremely unhappy person that probably wakes up bored every single day unless she can turn someone else's life upside down. They at least want a 'rise' out of others. There really are medical terms for those people! Your response to her was SPOT-ON and very well put! You have no worries for what you are putting on iPICKS.... I believe that all demonstrators and card crafters LOVE to have a 'go-to' place for all their favorite projects. And you have provided that service for us! I thank you and I know everyone else thanks you... and we hope you will continue posting each week to iPICKS. I love, love, love iPICKS! Rhonda

Oh my! Someone didn't have their caffeine that day! How rude! I don't come here often to look, but I do see it in Google Reader when I look there! I'm so glad you responded to her in your very respectful way! There's always one bad apple....

I have followed your iPicks especially for a long time and they are such an inspiration to me. I do feel bad I didn't leave a comment before. Not all of us have the time to hunt for the beauties you find. I have to wonder why the mean person would check your blog if they don't like what you do. No one forces them to do that. I say move on and forget it! We LOVE you!

Nancy the only thing I have to say is that it's too bad there has to be at least one a** hole in the group to try and ruin a good thing. Don't let it get ya down because there are far too many people (like myself) who love and enjoy your iPicks!

PS miss you on the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge team :(

Seriously...I can't believe there are people out there that leave such incredibly rude comments. I believe it's a cheap shot to leave an "anonymous" comment that is incredibly uncalled for. I love your iPicks and look forward to looking at them each week. I get a lot of inspiration from them and love that you link to them. I don't think that you ever intended to take credit for any of them. It is awesome to know that I can access some beautiful projects just by clicking on your blog. Please, please, please keep doing your iPicks. Love it!!!

Nancy when I found your post I was so excited to find so much beautiful art in one place and I look forward to each new post. You have helped me get inspired with the art you show us and with your story. Please keep going. Anonymous needs to find out why they are so unhappy.

I, too, enjoy your ipicks! Don't let the turkeys get you down. I really like your posts.

I love your blog and I love your ipicks. Yours is on of the first blogs I check and I miss you when you are gone.

I think you do a great job and I look forward to visiting your site. Please don't let one comment get you down. I feel sorry for someone who would leave such a comment. They have to be a very unhappy individual. Keep up the good work!

Please don't let someone's mean
comment upset you. I love your blog and you have linked me to lots of wonderful blogs! I love what you do. Hang in there! Diane H.

Hi Nancy, I love iPICKS! I usually click on the links you provide to get details on a card, and I have found new blogs that way. I really appreciate the time it takes you to put it all together.

Hi Nancy,
I'm not a SU demo, but I love seeing the inspiration on iPicks. I've been lucky to be on your list a few times, so thank you.

Keep up the good work! Ignore any rude anonymous idiots.

Brenda said...

Well little does Anonymous - who, if they had any courage at all in their convictions that they are so right in their opinion would come forward and identify themselves - know, any of us who have a blog would KILL to have one of our projects chosen to be featured on YOUR blog!

Remember, too, that people who make comments like "Anoymous" did are so out of the loop that they think comments like theirs are justified. Let them crawl back under their crappy attitudes and you just keep being your AWESOME self!!!!!

And thank you for your generosity maintaining a site that gives those of us who create a place to go to be both inspired and featured!

Anonymous said...

Your fans enjoy and appreciate viewing the cards that your show case....yours and other stampers'.....many we wouldn't get to see otherwise. And it does lead us to seek the various blog sites in quest for more ideas and introducing other stampers. So I thank you for all of this and doing a great job too.

As for 'anonymous's' comment.....well, she's certainly got the balls to even post her comment publicly. But unfortunately that seems to be all she has in her....balls. She (I'm assuming it's a she) definitely lacks in a lot of areas......No class, No common sense, No brains. I can imagine that she's a pitiful, lonely, cranky, short, fat & ugly creature. If she can dish out ugliness then I'm sure she can handle all of this and more. She owes you an apology (is it even worth it?) or just stay off her computer.

Hey, I just remembered......Halloween's just around the corner. She's been let loose early.

Thank you for taking the time to send your iPicks! They are appreciated and I love all the ideas. It takes a lot of time to put these together and as much as I tried, I could not learn to be as consistent as you! Especially with everything happening in your life, please know it is appreciated! As for the previous anonymous, all I can say is don't let one bad apple spoil the whole crop and don't let them have the satisfaction of having the power of you to make you feel bad. It is their issue!

There's always one rotten apple in the barrel. Please do not allow this person to upset you. I hope you will keep showing us your ipicks - you have introduced me to so many blogs of talented craftspeople that I never would have found on my own.
Thank you

Wow!!! Very nicely said!!! I appreciate and look forward to your IPICKS every week! I have been inspired by many of your picks to create something for my classes or for a personal project! Some people just need to be quiet if they don't know how to say something nice. It's a shame!!! Please don't change a thing.

I'm so glad you didn't let this anonymous person's comment discourage you from posting your picks each week. I love reading your blog and discovering other artist's blogs that I enjoy through your picks.

Nancy, I love your iPicks. I like to get ideas for cards from them. We were away for the weekend and I just now saw the comment and your response from anonymous. Keep up the good work. Glad to hear that your daughter is doing well.

How rude! They did not even have the courage to let you know their identity! You are doing all of the designers you feature a favour not an injustice. I now frequent many blogs that I did not know existed before seeing them on iPicks. You are sharing inspiration with your followers and giving the designers a wider audience. I know I would be honoured if I saw my work on iPicks! Just ignore the rude comment and keep up the great work! Obviously if you are gaining lots of followers and blog veiws as the comment suggests, it onyl means one thing, poeple obviously love iPicks and keep coming back!! Keep smiling xxx

PLEASE keep on as usual....I sooooo look forward to your I Picks!!!! Some people just have a VERY mean jealous streak and try to ruin it for "good" people....You have all the support you need to keep on keeping on!!!!!

Thanks,

Nancy, I love your iPICKS and I can't wait to see each one come out so that I can browse. If anything you are forwarding people onto other people's blogs and website and taking away from your own! I would be honored to be mentioned on your site and a new flow of traffic directed at my blog, if I had one!! :) LOL
But I love them and hope to see them continue!!!
You have much support from all!!! And I hope you have a wonderful and blessed day!! :)
And honestly...why post something like that and hide behind annonymous, just sayin' :)

I have your blog in my Google Reader and look forward to your ipicks every week! It's a great source of inspiration for me. And I also love that you make it so easy to click through to the other artists' blogs.

I am floored. If someone feels the need to make such a strong comment then they should be bold enough to sign it. Leaving a message like that anonymously is cowardly.

You are doing a great job and as someone who has been an iPick in the past, you just keep doing what you're doing.

Maxine said...

I LOVE your blog the way it is. I started a blog and I, too, work full time outside the home so I have found it is VERY hard to keep up. You do a GR8 job with everything. Some people just need to get a real life. Keep up the good work...we love it!!

What a ridiculous comment from Anonymous!!!!

I LOVE your blog and look forward to seeing iPICKS. Keep up the good work and judging from the number of positive comments here , hundreds of people disagree with anonymous and appreciate your hard work. Thank you.

Oh my goodness!!! First of all, I cannot believe "anonymous" didn't have the guts to sign his/her name. I am a firm believer that if someone (including myself) needs to complain, at least sign your name or don't take the time. I won't even read something if there is not a name associated with it. Secondly, who cares about blog ratings? If you are a credible stamper/blogger (like you, Nancy), blog "ratings" don't even matter. It's the sweet comments from regular visitors that make the blog what it is. You just keep on doing what you do, Nancy. I love, Love, LOVE your blog and how you take the time to search out YOUR favorites to save the rest of us the time of doing it. We are a family of stampers, and you do an awesome job of incorporating LOTS of different blogs. WTG, girl!!

Oh my goodness, please don't let that person ruin things for you and the rest of us that really ENJOY your ipicks!!! It's very obvious that you are not taking credit for the works. I love to check these out and see all these fun projects in one place. I also love the way you capture them and make it SO EASY to check out the blogs of the artist who created the work. Way easier than before, and because of that I check out the associated blogs even more often than before. Thank you for sharing what you love out there. As many others have stated, don't let that post steal your joy! Thanks for sharing!!!

Wow, that was a rude anonymous comment! Honestly, I've been following your iPicks for a long time and I take such pleasure in discovering little gems from blogs I might not have otherwise known about or visited, all catalogued together in one place with links to the original blogs. I've been lucky enough to make the cut a few times and was never offended by it. Quite the opposite - I thought it was super flattering! I know I've tried to leave comments when I visited and I am guilty of not posting often enough, but I definitely think this warrants the time today to let you know I hope you keep on doing what you do and know that we appreciate your great blog!

Big hugs,
Cindy

I appreciate your blog. There is so much inspiration on it. Instead of having to look at 20 different blogs, I can come to yours and see different techniques and ideas. I don't always look at it daily, but at least 2 or 3 times a week. Keep up the good work! Besides who made her the blog police>?

I feel it is a real shame that this "Anonymous" chose to put a negative comment on your blog....but on the upside, it has only demonstrated just how much support you have from the card-making & stamping community. It seems the common thread is that we all look forward to your iPicks...we all appreciate your creative blog-foraging (if that's even a word :)), and you obviously have a deep love for the art of card-making. I only recently discovered your blog and was inspired by a card in your gallery by Jennabee Crafts....it was a technique I'd never tried before EVER...and I went on to create one of the best cards I've ever done! ...all because of your blog!!!!! It's the best thing about the creative spirit...sharing with others, inspiring others, encouraging others....you do all these things ....so "THANK YOU"!!!! ***hugs***

Holy cow, Nancy! I'm comment #333--obviously "anonymous" stands alone in her shockingly rude behavior and opinion. I ADORE iPicks and love finding new crafters through your blog. I look forward to your posts and love the projects you pick and the ones that you create! When I have had the honor of being "picked", it is always the highlight of my week! Your blog is an inspiration to us all! ((hugs))

I love seeing your iPicks & seeing great samples in one place for the times I don't have time to check out blogs. It is too bad one harmful comment can ring in our head longer than good ones! Over 330 positive comments to keep you going! I wonder how many times "Anonymous" has checked your site for ideas!?!?! Keep up the good work & thanks!

Hi Nancy! I've been absent from the blog-o-sphere for a little while and was just getting caught up with your iPicks when I ran across this post. I'm so sorry that you were attacked in this way!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE your iPicks and look forward to them every week (or when you have the time to get to them). You find so many wonderful projects that are absolutely inspiring or have given me a necessary jump when my paper crafting mojo is off.

In addition, I LOVE LOVE LOVE your work! Your style is just lovely and your projects are fun and fresh.

I hope you'll be posting iPicks for some time to come and sharing your work with us as the muse inspires you. If you have time, I'd love to have you stop by my blog, Paper Conversation (paperconversation.typepad.com).
