UPDATE

Dear Blog Readers,

THANK YOU for all the inspiring comments, and most of all your prayers for my daughter Allie. (See this previous post). Since my original post on Wednesday, July 21 Allie has had another surgery ... on Thursday night, they put a plate and six screws in her collar bone, and was released from the hospital on Sunday. It has been a challenge keeping her comfortable, and finding the fine line with the pain meds (taking the pain away vs. loopiness) ... but we are so incredibly happy to have her home and to see progress in her recovery each and every day!

In case you are familiar with auto parts, the piece of steel that came through Allie's windshield was a leafspring from a large truck (possibly a dump truck). It weighs about 40 pounds, and is about 4 ft. long, 3 inches wide, and 1/4" thick. Every single aspect of her accident is a miracle from God! The tears just flow whenever I think about how close to death she was that day. I still don't think I've been able to wrap my brain around all of this.

I won't be stamping or blogging for awhile, as Allie's care and recovery is #1 right now. We are praying to have her ready to go back to school to continue on with her plans ... earlier this summer she was informed that she had passed milestone and accepted into the ASU School of Architecture. She had been working toward that goal all year, and only a select number of students make the program. I'll be back someday when things are more normal. Also, the designer paper, ribbon, and embellishment shares I had planned to offer will be delayed for now.

Your continued prayer on Allie's behalf is greatly appreciated! THANK YOU !!!

~Nancy

Oh Nancy, what a wonderful update!! I have been praying for you guys as I swim my laps in the pool while the kids are in their lessons (wonderful be to be able to exercise and pray at the same time). What a wonderful confirmation of how God watches over us at all times! I was shocked to hear the size of the thing that came through her window! I've heard of rocks flying out from between the dual wheels at the back of dump trucks (thus why I never drive behind them) but never this! God is good!!!

Young people heal so quickly I'm sure she will be up and about sooner than you think with all the TLC she is getting from you and the family and all the prayers.

Huge (((hug))) from one mom to another.

Nancy, I want you to know that I understand what you went through. In April this year, my husband was driving his truck(he hauls the big construction, concrete road trusses you see in convoys for the roads) with two trucks in front of him and one behind. They were on I35, headed through Temple on there way to Dallas. There was water on the road, the truck in front of him threw up a huge wall of water, my husband braked and did so to slow down, then saw the brake lights out of the water and realized that the truck in front of him was stopping so he stood on his brakes. The beam on the truck in front of him went through his engine and cab, the beam on his truck, chains broke, went through the cab from behind. They both missed him by inches, He managed to stop his truck without veering, ran over some median markers, did not go off into the ravine in the middle, his truck was totaled and he walked away unhurt, no one else was hurt either. The trucks are required to travel in the left lane with their escorts, a car entered the freeway into the right lane, swerved into the left lane in front of the first truck causing the first truck to stop. Even though there is lots of space between convoy trucks, it takes some doing to stop avoiding being hit. I got the news some hours later forom my husbands office. I got online and saw a You-tube video clip that a TV station had taken of the truck, where it was and how he stopped. I cried and cried in horror and relief. God works miracles, I know. My husband has used up more than nine lives. I am sorry your daughter was hurt, but am so happy she is alive and home. God is with you!

God is definitely on your side with this miracle!

so glad to hear the good news of Allie...know the recovery is the worst part now. Children tend to get a little impatient...but just keep reminding her how important she is and she will get better. Nancy, wrap your arms around you and give yourself a big hug..glad the worst seems to be over..Moms jobs are the toughtest, our hearts take a beating..but so worth it. Take care and thank you for the update

Believe in the power of prayer! We were in a horrible accident 5 years ago and our youngest was in the hospital for 10 days. It was truly the power of prayer and blessings from God that kept us going. Know that you will have good days and bad days as you care for Allie. Let people help you but also know that it is okay to say no - sometimes you want it to be just your family. You will never forget this but it will slowly get better. Healing takes time both mentally and physically. Our prayers are with you and your family!
