When I saw today's Color Challenge #210 of Riding Hood Red, Summer Sun, Kraft, and Basic Black on SCS I immediately thought of this stamp set, Rustic Rooster (Level Two Hostess). I'm not quite sure why I even own this stamp set ... it is so not my style! I appreciate country style and decor ... I'm just not good at creating it. This is my lame attempt at country, combined with Karen Giron's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #09.
RECIPE
Stamps: Rustic Rooster
Paper: Washington Apple DP, Good Morning Sunshine DP, Kraft, Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, and Whisper White CS
Ink: Jet Black Staz-On
Embellishments: Black Buttons, Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

Supplies: Stampin' Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

Very pretty card, Nancy! You were cracking me up with your commentary on this set! lol! I'm kind of with you...I got it too, but I haven't tried using it yet!
This card is awesome!
This is a great card - it was a very tricky color combo, but your card turned out beautifully!
You did very well for something that's not really your style.....I never would have known because it turned out so darn cute!
Many Blessings,
M.
Well, you may think that that stamp is not your style....but your card is fabulous!!! The rooster looks wonderful left uncoloured.
Love the DP on this card Nancy! That rooster image goes great with your colors and this sketch. Nice job!
I love your take on the sketch - rooster and all, haha! Love the colors too - Might have to go try that one out :)
LOVE your country color challenge card -- LOL!!! If we aren't 2 birds of a feather -- LOL!!!
This is really striking, Nancy! Great job with the challenge!
Oh Nancy this is really cute and no one would know its not your style
Hugs

It may not be your style, but what a gorgeous card! Love the layered circles we can create now with the Circle Scissors Plus! Guess that needs to be on my next demo order. And paper piercing the red circle really sets it all off. I kept thinking that the rooster had to be colored in, but I love how you've left it as a black stamped image.
LOL @ not your style...if you say so...but girl you sure pulled this off!! I was more worried about working summer sun into my card...lol
I love that you left the image uncoloured...looks fab that way!
Such a clean and crisp card!!
You may not be a rooster girl, but the card is fantastic. Loved how you used the sketch, ribbon and colors! Hugs, Mary
That stamp set is totally not my style either, but your card is fabulous and I don't think I could make such a fantastic card with a set I'm not excited about. Love it!
I love the mix of patterns and embellishments on this card, Nancy. You captured the style of this set beautifully!
It turned out beautiful.
I'm loving both the color combo and that rooster stamp! Awesome card!!!
Well, I think your card looks fab! Like you, This set is really not my style, but I have noticed I have been gravitating to stamps with more detailed graphics.
I guess variety is the spice of life!
Nice job!
Love your card. I would love to have a rooster stamp like that.
heehee, I was laughing because I too got this set and have no idea what to do with it!! I love what you did, this card turned out beautifully! Maybe I should give it a go....*STAMPIN HUGS* Alex
That stamp is not my style either, but I really like it stamped in black, it looks so nice. Those colors are very nice for the country theme too! Great job!
I LOVE it! You did a great job with the challenge! I am a little biased, though. I graduated from/work for a college that has a chicken (gamecock) for it's mascot!
I don't see you as a chicken girl either but you made this card rock and what a great job with the colour challenge! But you make everything look good!
You've done it again...inspired me... to ink up the rusty, i mean, rustic rooster:) Beautiful!
I think your card rocks Nancy! The rooster looks awesome just stamped without color added- I think it would be hard to resist the temptation to color it up. These colors would be tough for me, but you had no problem!
Oh, how I can relate to that! There are some stamps that are so lovely, but I KNOW that I won't be able to use them just right. I've gotten better over time at judging what's right and what isn't for me. The good thing with Hostess sets, though, is that you can try new styles without having to pay for the stamp set. :)
I think you did a great job! Love the mix of papers and the dash of black :)

You have got to be kidding!!! This card is awesome. I didn't really like this stamp set, but after seeing your card, I may actually have to purchase it. You give the set a whole new meaning for me. Thanks for sharing. Cheryl in Reno/Sparks, NV
FABALICIOUS card Nancy!! Your “lame attempt” was well worth sharing girl!! I love it... I have an older SU! Rooster set and this would be a perfect layout for a guy card... minus the bow, but I sure could add a sentiment. (I have a few relatives that are farmers!!) TFS... Michelle :)
LAME? Are you kidding me? This is fantastic.
I really love that Rooster in just black like that.
You really know how to strut your "stuff".
WOW Nancy this turned out BEAUTIFUL! I love that rooster stamped in black.....I think you do country really well! Great job! Love keesh x
could've fooled me! looks great in these colors and with this layout! love it!
I think your lame attempt looks wonderful! Gorgeous card.
Hugs and smiles
