Since I had so many sincere well wishes for my return to the workforce, I wanted to provide you with a quick post to let you know that I survived my first day back to work! Someone asked if I was working at Sprinkles (from my previous post) ... NO, but sounds like a fun and fattening job! I'm working at my son's K-8 school as a Paraprofessional, working with special needs children. Today was an easy day, as I sat in an auditorium all day listening to people talk. Tomorrow, I work at the school to get all the details about my new job. Monday is the real test ... the kids' first day back to school!
Thanks for all your encouraging comments and e-mails! You've given me the courage to tackle this huge change in my life head on! Thank you for that !!!!
Can't WAIT to stamp this weekend! My cousin, Jami is getting married in September and asked me to design a tag for the gift bags that will be given to the guests checking into hotels for the wedding. She flipped over the first design I showed her, and am making 50 of them for her this weekend. I'll be sharing them with you when they're done!

So glad to hear Day 1 went well Nancy. I am a teacher, an SU! demo, wife and mother to 2 and somehow manage to get my "me" time each evening....I love it and need it in my life. You will really appreciate the time you can spend creating. Can't wait to see those tags. Best wishes for next week too!
Congrats! You made it through day 1 - the rest is easy! Hugs, Fran
I'm sure you're going to be a wonderful addition to the staff of the school. Can't wait to see those tags. All the best.

My best to you, Nancy, as you begin your new job! Paraprofessionals are wonderful support to teachers! Next week, I will be beginning my 30th year as a teacher of special needs children. Very rewarding!
Hi Nancy! Glad to know your first day went well. My mother-in-law used to teach special needs children and found it to be a very rewarding job. I'm sure you will, too. :) Can't wait to see those tags! Take care!
you go girl. once you are in with the children, you will love it. they are so loving and have such quick smiles. good luck.... MaryAnn
I am a lurker on your blog, but with the mention of your new job I had to say something. I have a special needs child and you have no idea what all the work you do with these children mean to their parents. I think it honestly takes amazing people to be able to work with these special but truly amazing children!! Good luck in your new endeavor!

Glad to hear your first day went well Nancy! That sounds like a very fulfilling job. Can't wait too see those tags!
I'm glad to hear your first day went well. You'll find this job very challenging but rewarding too. My son is special needs and it definitely takes someone special to assist special needs kids. You are SO appreciated by the parents as unfortunately the teachers just don't have enough time to spend with special needs kids. So good for you that you are taking this on! And really great that it's at your son's school too.
WTG! We all know that you will be absolutely smashing in anything you try. The kids are going to love you! Can't wait to see your tags! ~chris
I knew you could do it...you go girl.

As a substitute teacher that would OFTEN sub. in the Special Ed. class....This will be the most rewarding and challenging job you will EVER have and you will love it more than you will ever imagine!! At the end of the year the tears will be for both relief that it's come and sadness that it's here! Congratulations on the new job! I know you are going to love it! :c)

I'm a special education teacher and I work with a GREAT paraprofessional. I could not do my job without her. Your job is so very important and I'm happy you are getting excited about it. Enjoy the job and the kids. Stamping will relax you during those times of stress. Good luck and have a GREAT school year!

Glad you survived!! I have to say, I'm extremely jealous you got to stay home as long as you did!!! I would give my left foot to be a SAHM, but it's just not financially possible for my family. Welcome to the working world!! And rest assured, you WILL find a way to juggle everything...you'll want to pull your hair out some days, but that paycheck helps!! :-) Keep us posted!
{{{Nancy}}} Glad to hear all went well! Have fun stamping this weekend, I can't wait to see what you made for your cousin!!!
Big hugs to you my friend!!
good luck with your new job I am also a para for special needs children. I work with 5th and 6th grade. I start back on Thursday. I love my job the children are some times a challenge but the rewards are so wonderful.
All the best in your new job. The school is lucky to have such a creative person on board.
Nancy - I work full-time and likely always will. Though I'm sure it's possible to make big $$ with SU, it's hard to put alot of time into SU when I already work full-time and I can't just quit with the hope that my SU business will grow exponentially in a short time frame. The fact is that I have a great job with a great salary, benefits, and a pension. My SU business would have to be quite large to replace all of that. There are many days that it's hard to juggle it all, but it all seems to work out somehow. Best wishes!
Nancy, sorry I'm so slow to say congratulations and good luck on your return to the workforce! I hope this week is going well for you, and wish you all the best!!
