Dear Readers,
I need your prayers like never before! Yesterday (7/20) at around noon my 18 year old daughter Allie was driving on the I-10 in Phoenix when a 4 ft. steel rod came from nowhere through her windshield and hit her collar bone ... spun her car into a 360 and ended horizontally across three lanes of traffic without touching another vehicle. Allie was rushed to a nearby hospital where they immediately took her to surgery for suspected life-threatening injuries. They feared severe damage to a major artery. Three hours later, we received the most incredible news ... no major damage to a major artery! God is quite the miracle worker!
Allie is still in ICU and we are preparing for another surgery in the next couple of days. They will be putting in two screws to her fractured collar bone. She is bruised, sore, some chipped teeth, and emotionally shaken.
Not knowing whether your child is going to live or die is something I hope no one ever has to experience. Add to this hysteria the fact that my son and I were thousands of miles away in Iowa. We were able to get a flight out and arrive in Phoenix at 1:00 this morning.
Please pray for Allie's recovery, my friends! Today is my birthday and I have received the most incredible gift from God !!! - my daughter! Allie's faith is strong, and she has many loving and supportive family members and friends.
Praise be to God! Love you all !!!
Love, Nancy

Oh Nancy, your post brought tears to my eyes. Of course, I'll include your daughter in my prayers, and you and the rest of your family as well. What a fantastic gift you received indeed!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Jackie W.
Thanks be to God that her injuries weren't any more serious than they are. My husband had a similar collar bone injury when we were involved in a car accident 5 years ago which required surgery as well, so I know what she's going through. I pray that Allie will heal quickly and not have too much pain. She may have difficulty lying in bed at first as my DH did, so if you have a comfy recliner chair for her to sleep in, I'd recommend it for the first few days she's back home. Not exactly the birthday you were probably thinking of, but having the gift of still having your daughter with you must be a wonderful present indeed. May God continue to watch over the Riley family.
ReplyDeleteOur God is an awesome God! I lift Allie and her doctors and your family up in prayer. I pray that the recovery is swift. How scary for you to be so far away. Praise God she is going to be okay! What a wonderful birthday present!

ReplyDeleteNancy, Praise the Lord!! Life is so precious and can be taken from us in a blink of an eye. Sometimes we are reminded just how quickly that can happen and how thankful we need to be for every day we have with our family and friends. Here's to a speedy recovery to Allie! Melissa

ReplyDeleteWow, What a miracle!! Thank god!! I live in AZ also and have actually been driving on the I-10 lately. My prayers are with you and your family. Anita
ReplyDeleteNancy, I'm also from Phoenix and the exact same thing happened to husband approximately 2 months ago. He was on I-10, heard a big bang and a crowbar came straight through the windshield and stopped about 5 inches from his nose. It was terrifying and he never saw it coming. I will pray for your daughter. I can't imagine how scary it is to have your child in the hospital with lifethreatening injuries. God is good and was truly watching over her.
ReplyDeletePraying for your family. May continue to bless you. I can't even begin to imagine how terrified you must be. Be strong.
ReplyDeletePraise God she's ok! Continued prayers for Allie's full and speedy recovery! Love you Nancy!
ReplyDeleteWhen 2 and 3 are gathered, there I will be in the midst.............Yes prayers are with you, your daughter and family..........Praise the Lord for MIRACLES, love from Ohio
